Fight?

We were exiting the club through the front door after the event. A fight broke down. There was this huge dude who looked like he wanted to kick the brains out of the other guy. Six to seven people were trying to get a hold of him.. He finally got loose. Instead of throwing a punch or giving him a flying kick, he stopped directly at the guys face and said “ watch out!, you watch out!” and walked off.

Set An Alarm Next Time

Today, I woke-up late.
My body clock usually wakes me at 7am for 9am class. The time showed 07:37; this means I had less than 50 minutes left to prepare myself for college. Without wasting anymore time, I hustled to get ready.
Lucky for me, I was on time.

Technology : Making life better or for the worst?

Advancement in technology is good but sometimes it has negative side too. People seem to spend more time on their computers than interacting face to face with others. In current times everyone is so busy working and doing their own things, which actually makes them hard to spare sometime to do some shopping. They start work at 9am and end at 5pm or 6pm, or they sometime have to stay back for overtime. By the time they get work done, they are tired out and have no more energy to go shopping. Because technology today is very advance, we can actually shop at home. Online shopping has become an ongoing trend nowadays. Many stay in the comfort of their own homes and shop with just a simple click of their mouse.

Now that it is a festive season, many would go out to malls to shop and the crowd may be unbearable. Like me, I hate to shop in places with crowds. Because of the advancement in technology, I can sit at home and shop without sweating and pushing my way through or queuing to try on my clothes and paying for my stuff. Everything has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are convenient and sometimes it might be cheaper or more unique than those sold in shops. On the other hand, the disadvantages we face in online shopping are like transaction issues, sizes and quality problem and many more. The idea of online shopping is pampering people too much. It actually makes us turn lazy.

I'm moving on !

On the article “Acid attack victim stays positive about life” that I have reviewed. The act of throwing acid is not a moral thing to do even when you are in anger. Today the world has come to a point where everything is so complex and technology is so diverse .Where sometimes love can really blind a person and make them do stupid things to their love ones especially to their own family. After reading the article I feel really sad not to the victim Tan Hui Linn knowing that her own blood father that threw acid on both of them. Today as he is back of that bars, I really feel when he looks back at the past and sees what he has done to this poor girl and made her lose her mother will make him really guilty and this will kill him from the inside. But I’m proud to see that Tan Hui Linn the victim is really going on strong on this issue and is not letting this stop her in her life. While most people will stop and feel so pointless in life when they fail their exams, marriages, on money and etc. But for her to move on and say it’s alright while her broken heart shows throughout her body it’s really a great thing and a brave move. Knowing now she has to take care of her brother without her mother and father. I would really hope her relatives and close friends come together and help her. But for a form 5 student to go thru all of this she is a warrior on her on. And no matter what comes into her way or her brother’s life, they will still go on no matter how much you fall but god will never make you touch the ground.

The Innocent Father?

Wife and sons beating up dad? What has the world turned into. From the article 'My wife and sons are beating me up, claims dad' that I've read. It just hit me in the head that, you can't trust anyone fully. Ironically, this man in Malacca has been beaten and kicked in the past seven years and has not reported anything till now. Sham, 47 and his wife which is 4 years younger than him is abusing him. In a right HUMAN mind, which wife would beat up the husband or even vice-versa. -PSYCHO.
And what got me really shocked was that the wife who is an executive officer in a major firm has been having an affair with another man since 1998 and always comes home late. What are the odds left for an officer? To top that Sham's two teenage sons are beating him up as well.

I'd say that's very disrespectful, a father is the MAN of the house and he is supposedly to be treated with full of respect. Sons beating father up? That's very inhuman, to me it clearly seems like people these days are heartless, I mean your own blood father? Someone who actually brought you up in this world. After reading the article I didn't find any reason that the wife has rights to be beating the husband up when she was the one having an affair and having the sons beating the father up as well. Nevertheless, even if it was after 12 years that Sham had finally reported to the police, he showed all his bruises. At the same time, I find that Sham didn't stand up from his rights from the very beginning, and showed authority in the household.

To conclude, I personally think that we should be treated the way we are supposed to and not let anyone step on us by any physical means. Stand up for your rights, and start being strong for your own good. No one is trust-able. -IT'S LIFE.

Sex Sells - Yes, It Does!

Companies with sexy banners, ads and billboards featuring provocative models in Seberang Prai, Penang are now being slapped with a RM250 per advertisement by the municipal council.

They say sex sells, and I think that this line rings true in any sector in the business world. In a multi-racial country like Malaysia with many races, religions and of course, languages, any savvy business man has to work hard to reach out to his customers who come from all walks of life.

With a melting pot of languages, it’s obvious that the only language that everyone would understand is – BODY LANGUAGE.

The official language in Malaysia is Bahasa Malaysia.

I do not recall there being any other country speaking this language. How is an entrepreneur going to expand his business beyond his own nation? Sell his product in Brazil in Portuguese when he knows none? Japanese in Japan?

Why adapt to every country when we already possess a language that can be spoken with our bodies that everyone from anywhere, from all walks of life can understand?

Banning “sexy” billboards will not stop the moral decay of the nation’s youth. If anything, it will surpress their sexuality and just bring more social problems to the country.

Since we’re talking about suggestive and provocative items being banned from advertisements, let’s ban everything altogether! Let’s ban bananas and cucumbers from Tesco flyers that they drop at our houses every month. Stop selling sausages. Let’s stop driving manual cars, because shifting the gear stick looks really wrong!

Burns not just the face but the heart

Pouring acid to someone you know, or even someone you don't know is inhuman. Among the hundreds of people of there who had this experience, not everyone can be as tough as Tan Hui Linn to accept reality and see things at the brighter side or a more positive outlook. What about those who wouldn't be able to go through this?

Tan Hui Linn's mother, Chong Swee Lin has passed away ten hours later while Hui Linn has to live on her life with the scars all over her body and the worst part, without the support from her mom. What kind of cruelty world are we living in? A dad is suppose to love the family, protect the family instead of being the tool the their danger.

Although to the world Hui Linn may be the tough strong girl that is able to accept the truth, but deep in her heart, wouldn't she feel hurt or betrayed perhaps? that her own family has done this to her and her mother. What about her studies? Would she be able to even concentrate on her studies while this year is her SPM year. She's just form five.

Even if she is actually strong enough to go to school, what about her friends or her schoolmates? I'm sure not everyone is supporting enough, some might even discourage her. But on the brighter side, she still has her brother as her only one person she can truly rely on. Let's just hope that Hui Linn would be able to go back to Penang to celebrate her birthday after her surgery on the Feb17 and another one on March 19.

As for her dad, his case would be brought up soon and let's pray the he'll get the punishment he deserves.

Casino Royale Singapore

The people of Singapore are taking their Chinese New Year celebration gravely. Gambling seems to be their number one priority as they are all preparing their homes to host an in-house casino style gambling. It was just five years ago when I visited Singapore and Chinese New Year over there was the same like how we Malaysians celebrate; by visiting friends and family, watching the lion dance, enjoying the traditional delicacies and everyone’s personal which is receiving the ‘ang pow’.

It’s quite depressing to know that the worldwide celebration of Chinese New Year is now nothing more than just gambling for the Singaporeans. People as young as 25 years old are spending more than 300 Singapore Dollars just to prepare their mini-casino at home. The importance of the celebration is the gathering of friends and family under one roof spending quality time, laughing and enjoying the festive season, but in the eye of these gambler’s its more like a gathering of high-rolling gamblers of friends and family consisting. Their reason is Chinese New Year.!

The preparation consists of buying and renting poker tables, high quality casino ranged playing cards, roulette tables and chips. All of these totaling the expenditure of a single person up to one thousand five hundred Singapore Dollars, some even more. The cultural barrier is now clearly broken and violated by the acts of these gamblers. ‘Pretty good’ examples are being set for the younger generations and yes they know it themselves and agree to it. The real celebration will be for the owners of the rental agencies that are renting and selling gambling agents. The government has done nothing much except for only giving strict warning to those who have planned to carry out public gambling and housing an illegal gambling centre. Jail terms and fines will be imposed on the people who violate these rules.

Well one thing is for sure, the opening of the real casino is going to strike gold for the Singapore government as they are already promoting and encouraging citizens to get their own gambling set for Chinese New Year. All said and done for the citizen and for those looking to pocket some money this festive season please do visit your friends or family in Singapore.

Italian Spat

The article wrote that the owner of AC Milan FC, Silvio Berlusconi was unhappy about the club’s new signing during the winter transfer window.

Silvio Berlusconi who is also the Prime Minister of Italy slammed his own club chief executive for signing Mancini form local rivals, Inter Milan.

He claim that Mancini is a great player, however he had not played for several months and suffered in a dip of form. This raised doubts over the public the fact that Mr. Berlusconi rarely criticize publicly on his club’s new signing.

Whereas Mancini was really hoping to resurrect his career at AC Milan following the dismaying performance at Inter Milan in his 18 months spell. He has been out favored by Jose Mourinho. He has been reported by playing ineffectively in the 4-3-3 formation. This causes his manager, the former Chelsea boss to dropped him for most of the club’s match.

Due to his in ability to hold down a regular position at either flank of 4-3-3 formation, he was relegated to the bench for a long period of time. Till now, the season has gone halfway, but he only featured a pathetic number of 7 times which totaled up less than 4 hours of playing time.

However he blamed Jose Mourinho for not giving him adequate chance to adapt the new attacking format of 4-3-3 which emphasis on the surging in from both flanks. It’s great to hear that he would turn over a new leaf at AC Milan and resurrect his career. He would love to regain his dominance in the midfield back to the old days at AS Roma.

Who really is the victim?

In my opinion regarding the Anwar sodomy trial, I feel that all these arguments are a conspiracy to make him look bad in the public. The case’s key witness, Saiful, said that Anwar wanted to meet him at the condominium to discuss his work schedule. Anyone who is smart enough would know that you could just discuss a work schedule over a cup of coffee or even at the workplace but why at a condominium unit that belonged to neither Anwar nor Saiful? Another amusing point was why did Saiful agreed to the request? Yes, he did reject Anwar at first, but why did he agree to it after that? Maybe Anwar might have requested for sex with Saiful, but even if Anwar did, Saiful could just reject him again. Saiful also said that he was told to go into the master bedroom first and only then, Anwar entered and closed the curtains. Saiful did not mention that the doors were locked or anything of that kind. He could have just escaped easily if he wanted to. Even if the door was locked, how long would it take to unlock the door while Anwar was busy closing the curtains?

Saiful also said Anwar asked him to “clean up” in the bathroom. Again, Saiful had enough time to call for help. How long would a phone call take? After all, he knew where he was and what was going on so why didn’t he call for help? Weird isn’t it? Next, he said that Anwar was waiting for him in the bedroom with a towel. Why would there be a towel in the bedroom? Saiful claimed that Anwar asked him to clean up, but did not specify whether to put his clothes back on or not after that. So why didn’t he put his clothes back on and instead just wrap himself up in a towel?

After all the points I’ve listed down, who really is the victim here?

Nasir's remark counteracts One Malaysia

The One Malaysia program has been doubted and questioned as the recent racist remark has been made my Datuk Nasir Safar at the One Malaysia seminar held in Malacca recently. The remark has been offensive although Nasir claimed it to be unintentional. This is an extremely huge mistake as it would counteract all the sweat and blood the Government has put in order to make the One Malaysia a success. It is believed that the only way to make this One Malaysia program a success is first for the citizens of Malaysia to stop reminding the other races of where their ancestors were originated as the saying goes, let bygones be bygones. We are all true born Malaysians. Though we may be a Malay, a Chinese, an Indian, or any other race or ethnic groups, we are still born as a Malaysian. This definitely gives us the right to ask for slightly a fair share of equal treatment from the Government. How is this ungrateful of us? If we are to be ONE, we should be treated as ONE. Let this issue be an eye opener to the people of Malaysia so that they will realize what it takes to make a country united.

It's not JUST a slap!

Under the article of “teacher rubs medicated oil on students” is a short article about a man and his daughter apparently hitting another female school student. Honestly, first of all hasn’t the country heard enough stories and incidences where parents get physically involved with other school children just because their children can’t fight their own battles?

Its about time where a general rule was made across the board for all schools where no parents are allowed to step into school grounds unless they are there for reasons such as seeing a teacher or picking their child up from school, even with that, the parents should be escorted by the schools security guard or by a teacher to and fro so that incidences like these don’t get repeated.

To think about it, it’s bad enough that the age group between the father and the student would probably be about 20 years apart, to top that up he is a MAN and the student is just a GIRL but yet he chooses to get physical with her. I don’t think he would like it if the situation was switched and the other girls parent had man handled his daughter now would he?

But then again, in the defense of the father, the article had only written about, in very brief description on what had taken place, God only knows what the girl would have done to provoke the parent till the point where he was forced to get physical with her. I’m pretty sure the parent was matured enough to think of other alternatives before deciding to get physical. But nevertheless, the bottom line is that the parent DID manhandle her and he should be charged no matter what for doing what he did. Lets not forget that the student is still a minor and shouldn’t be allowed to be manhandled by a person who is 20 years her senior.

To think about it, If the female student could start fighting with the other student INFRONT of her parent, IN the schools compound then it just proves how much respect she has and how undisciplined her upbringing is at home, and to say that her father got involved in the scuffle, again, it just proves how the upbringing at home is. The law should be tightened and a harsher punishment should be made before something worst were to happen, because not all parents would stop at just a slap.

Blogging vs. Facebook/Twitter

New studies have shown that blogging is becoming a thing of the past, as more internet users prefer to use online social networking systems as they’re quicker and less lengthy. Well, at least some youths think so.

The youth can be considered fickle-minded and religious trend-followers. You could say that blogging was at its peak five years ago. But there’s been recent fallout as Facebook and Twitter seems to be conquering the hot seat of today’s teenagers. This is obviously reflective of the new generation of internet users: we want things fast and easy.

You can see it from the obvious switch from Blogger and Xanga, to Facebook and Twitter. These social networking sites provide the same services: they work to broadcast news and the current affairs of the user. Except blogging is a long, meticulous process of writing and creating an interesting story, whereas “tweeting” and “updating your status” are complete no-brainers with a straight forward message.

It’s not to say that everyone’s given up on blogging. Some people still prefer to blog. They don’t make it into a daily ritual but highlight important events that took place in their week or even fortnight (the duration of time and frequency varies, I’m just stating examples). Not everyone needs to know what they’re doing or where they are every step of the way.

Still, opening up to the world and giving out this “private information” isn’t all that safe anymore (not that it ever was or ever will be). More and more people are pouring into the internet. Blogs, which were once seen as sanctuaries for people to express their feelings have now been invaded and can land the user into unnecessary trouble.

There’s no real conclusion to this debate. The need to keep updated and be informed has evolved and is still evolving. There will never be a domineering platform for social networking. It’s all honestly up to an individual’s taste and preference. Whether you prefer to stick to old school blogging or move into the new trend of tweeting, it’s all the same: you’re still ever slightly narcissistic and you want your peeps to keep up with your life.

A Trafficked Life

It is never acceptable when a child goes missing or kidnapped. Even though many of us would like to not think about such sensitive issues, the people of Haiti are now suffering the unbearable. Despite having already gone through a devastating earthquake, children are being kidnapped for human trafficking.

Is this humane? Haven’t these people already suffered enough? When will the pain end for this nation? How can people take advantage of such a serious mishap and make it a profitable venture. But is it right to blame the Americans? Maybe it is, maybe it’s not.

But I’m getting off topic, the human trafficking in Haiti. Who is to blame does not matter at this point, the matter now is to find the missing children or at least prevent others from getting into the same fate. Human trafficking might be one of the most inhumane things one could ever do. To take another’s life, as if it were yours to take, to use as you wish. Who are you to play God? When was it ever said you could take something that is not yours?

A child’s life is tarnished, stripped away for the greed of men. For a moment of pleasure, a child’s whole life is ruined. For one moment, a whole family suffers heartbreak, and for what? For what purpose does this happen? I fail to see whatever reason there is for anyone, to conform to human trafficking. We hear of it all the time, we sigh and let it pass because it does not affect us personally. But what happens when it does? Do we expect other people’s pity? Of course we do, but that doesn’t mean we will get it. If you don’t care about something that happens to other people now, why would you expect someone to care about you?

In the end of the day, it is happening, it is all around, whether or not you wish for it to happen or not, whether you are aware of it or not. What are you going to do about it now that you know?

Real Malaysians. Aren't We All?

Malaysian. A Real Malaysian.

Those are the words that I find has no real definition. What makes a person a Malaysian? His skin color? Her clothes? The way they speak? Or the people we hangout with? I thought you are a Malaysian if you’re born in Malaysia. A certificate and an identity card officially show us where we belong. What people said otherwise was irrelevant.

I was taught to know that there were only boys, girls, men and women. Old and young. There were no Malays, no Chinese, no Indians even no Eurasians. That’s all that mattered. So where has all that gone? Are we in denial or just ignorant? I would add more but rather keep it for my “special moments”.

I may not pray, go to church, a mosque or even to a temple but the one thing I know is we should accept people for who they are. Not because of who they pray to or where their ancestors came from. Accepting is one and tolerating is another. I thought they teach those values in religious class? If they did, where did we miss it? Or at least why did we forget it? I live my life by respecting everyone and anyone no matter what background they have. I mean sure I curse and swear and have a bad temper but if there’s one thing I know is the feeling of being treated like you don’t belong. Trust me on this. I’m an expert in this situation.

For as long as I can remember, the adults and friends in my life teach me what is respect. The respect I know is given without a reason, but to many others, respect is given to those who deserve it. Who does? Who doesn’t? Don’t we all? A person with no respect and has no respect is not a person at all.

Maybe the teachings that our parents taught and teach us are different but what gives anyone the right to put down a person or discriminate a person? I thought the only who can judge us at the end of the day was GOD? Not you, not me and not anyone else. Why do we play GOD when merely nothing next to him?

The whole race and religion issue has always been a talk in is country. We say it’s time to change or as some say, a new change. But my dears’, asking is easier said then doing. Some things have to change in order for anything to start.

It’s like using a pond as a metaphor. The pond is the people of the country. Throw a pebble into it and see the ripples arise A pebble is the start and ripples of the change. I know it goes back after long period but like any change, we have to make sure it stays. So the end of racism and discrimination among religions has to stop and change somewhere.

A big start has to happen in order for a big change.

Abuse...by a WOMAN?

A man in Malacca has accused his wife and two sons of beating him up. The man, Sham, was kicked in the groin by his wife and she asked her two teenage sons to beat him up with a hanger after that. He has bruises and marks all over his body to prove it.

This incident, I have to say, is a little shameful. What has become of women these days? Not all women are like this but it is a little scary when we read about things like this. Imagine one day you get married, in your eyes, to the most wonderful person you have ever met. Then, a few years down the road, the girl of your dreams beats you up.

In the article, Sham mentioned that he made a mistake by letting this issue carry on like this with his family. As his children are teenagers, I am presuming it went on for quite a while. I wonder why he did not do anything earlier, before things got this bad.

If I was him, I would have reported this issue after it happened the first time. Abuse is something that should not be tolerated, regardless or race or gender. Some may say it is out of love they do not repot the case, but love does not mean abuse and suffering like what happened to him.

Our country has a set of rules and laws, which include the rights of the people. I think the people are not very aware of it, though I may be wrong here. A person’s safety and physical being can be protected if issues are immediately reported and it is important that this kind of issue gets to the authorities so that issues like this do not repeat itself.
