Granny O'Grim's Sleeping Beauty is a short animated film directed by Nicky Phelan and produced by Darragh O'Connel. The story was written by Kathleen O'Rourke. The story focuses on the granny herself, who seems like a sweet and caring nanny but when her granddaughter showed a terrified face as she was about to tell a bedtime story, we could all already expect the kind of story that would be told. It was her very own version of Sleeping Beauty.
What I find interesting about this short animated film is the beautiful CGI that made it pleasant for my eyes. I also liked the fact that the the beginning of the film kept me interested to find out more on what this story is about.
Although the beautiful CGI was really good, I think it would be better if they did the 2D part a little better. Funny segments didn't sounded funny at all. As this film was categorized as a comedy, the granny was yelling at the kid most of the time as she was telling the story. Children who watches this might end up being afraid of their grandmothers as well.
In short, I find the pros of this film not being able to make up for the cons. Suggestion, do not set high expectations for this film. You might like this, or maybe not.
