FEED YOUR SKIN!
Hey girls of all ages, need I remind you that your skin is just like any living thing. Applying cosmetics on our skin daily may be harmful to our skin cells; after all, cosmetics are chemicals. Therefore, our skin needs the nutrients to keep it healthy and subtle regularly. The usual routine would be to cleanse, tone and moisturise daily in the morning and during the night before you hit the bed! The extras would be products such as serums, facial masks, and scrubs. Now, we all know how to cleanse, tone and moisturise, but what are the purposes of using serums, facial masks and scrubs? Are they necessary? How often do you need them? Here's why and how.
SERUMS
Serums are liquid based and are mostly filled with certain kinds of vitamins or even anti-oxidants depending on what the serum is for. A serum is formulated in such a way where it is able to penetrate deep under the layers of our skin to treat various kinds of skin conditions for example, dehydration, firmness, and blemishes, pore minimizing and dark spots. It is usually applied after the usual routine of cleansing, toning and moisturising (before bed) and before putting on a day moisturiser.
FACIAL MASKS
Facial masks are masks that are filled with liquid serum. Applying facial mask is not an everyday routine. It is usually done either twice a week or even once a week depending on the individual itself and the individual’s skin condition. Facial masks are applied according to what the individual’s skin needs. For some people, masks application is a way to pamper one’s skin. There are all sorts of facial masks for different kinds of purposes. Some of the common ones would be for Hydration, Whitening, Firming and Radiance.
SCRUBS
Scrubs are usually gel or cream based product. The purpose of a scrub is to remove dead skin cells and any excess dirt particles that are trapped in our skin. Caution! As scrubs, are not meant to be used daily. It is recommended to scrub your face only twice or once a week only. Excessive scrubbing could result in the increase of the number of loose skin cells and this could plug up the oil glands which would result to break outs. Even when scrubbing, always remember to scrub gently and lightly.
