Know your skin, keep it healthy

You should understand your skin type before opting for your daily skincare regime. There are a lot of skincare products out there in the market that caters for different types of skin. By knowing which skin type you belong to will help you in choosing the perfect set of skincare for your daily routine.

The most common skin types include combination, oily and dehydrated. It is easy to determine what type of skin you have. Take dehydrated skin for example, cleanse your face, pat dry and wait for a while, without your toner on, to check if you will feel a pulling sensation on your face. It might just suggest that your skin is lacking in hydration.

Dehydrated skin – Moisturize! What is more important than giving your skin the adequate amount of moisture? Use a moisturizer religiously to prevent dry and flaky skin that might trigger the sensitivity of your skin. It can also cause premature aging as well as wrinkles to appear. Do not use an alcohol based toner as it will strip off the natural oil in your skin. If you are free, use a hydrating mask at least twice a week to replenish all the nutrients and hydration your skin is lacking off.

Combination skin – Balance is the key! Moisturize only the necessary part as combination skin tends to be oily on the T-zone and slightly dry on the cheeks area. It is better to invest in two types of moisturizers; an oil-free one for the T-Zone and a moisture rich one for the cheeks.

Oily skin – Combat it! As much as you wish to get rid of the oiliness on your face, please do not neglect the importance of a moisturizer. Without it, your skin will tend to produce more oil to compensate the loss of moisture. Go for an oil-free hydrator and use a deep cleansing mask once a week to thoroughly cleanse your pores.
